Play Fighting Chess With Combination!~The Eleven Symptoms

  • Look for pieces that are defending other pieces.

  • It is possible to block the line of fire of a defending piece so that it no longer fulfils its function?

  • It is possible to increase the pressure by opening up more lines of attack in some way?

  • Watch for tactical possiblilities base on back-rank mates.

  • Look for ranks, files and diagonals that contain more than one enemy piece and try to find ways of "skewering' them.

  • Watch for forking possibilities.

  • When there are not many pieces on the board, be on the lookout for ways of creating passed pawns by decoying enemy pawns off important files.

  • When you think you are losing but you have very few legal moves, look for ways to give up your remaining pieces and reduce your mobility to zero. Stalemate is sometimes overlooked by GrandMasters.

  • Be alert to take advantage of pins, not only of those that present themselves but also those that can be created.

  • If your opponent's king looks vulnerable, investigate all possible ways of increasing the pressure against it.

  • Look especially and constantlly for enemy pieces that are performing more than one function?

Kata-kata Hikmat dari Tok Rimau...ta daaaa.....

wilhelm steinitz
“When you have an advantage, you are obliged to attack, otherwise you are endangered to lose the advantage.”

emanuel lasker
“Everybody can play well in better positions, but to be a good player it is necessary to also play well in bad positions.”

“A tactical situation demands a counterattack, not defense!”
"Situasi taktikal memerlukan serangan balas, bukannya defense!"

“The most powerful weapon in chess is to have the next move!”

“Many sacrifices don’t require concrete calculation at all. It is sufficient to only glance at the arising position to convince us that the sacrifice is correct.”

“In speed chess it is easier to attack with a piece less, than to defend with an extra piece.”

“Dubious, therefore playable!”
“Obvious, therefore dubious!”
(terjemah la sendiri Rimauchess nak tidur ni....)

The Most Common Mistakes

1) Playing too fast because of overconfidence
  • You think you are winning easily, or
  • You think you are playing a lower-rated opponent.
2) Not recognizing the critical moment
  • One definition of a critical move is when missing the best move can possibly change the expected outcome of the game.
3) Playing too fast because of carelessness
4) Being overcautious
  • In trying to avoid small errors, they are making a bigger mistake by risking a loss on time or blundering in time trouble, and
  • It is generally not worthwhile to try and differentiate the subtle distinctions between two equivalent moves. So use general principles to make non-critical moves rather quickly. A good start is to make each non-critical move using considerably less time than the average move of the time control.
5) Guarding instead of moving
  • Guarding ties down other units to the defense,
  • The opponent may be able to pile on additional attackers, and you either commit further resources to defensive functions or move the attacked piece anyway, and
  • Guarding often allows the common tactic: removal of the guard.
6) Miscounting

Therefore you get wrong position against wrong opponents!
